Power Electronics NZ is a wholly locally owned company that specialises in the supply of world leading inverters in the form of variable speed drives (AC motor control), active harmonic filters (AHF), electronic power factor correction (Static VAR Generators – SVG), utility scale solar inverters, utility scale battery energy storage inverters, and electric vehicle (EV) charging systems.

We've been in this market for over 20 years, with many of our staff being with us for more than 10 years. In that time have sold into a huge variety of industry sectors including electrical contractors, mining, local councils, irrigation, timber processing, marine, food processing, commercial building, just to name a few. We even have product with the NZ military.

A little about who we're looking for…

Sales – it's all about people. The old adage says "people buy off people" – if you're happy with people interaction, then that's a great start. We believe that the best salespeople in our field are industrial electricians with solid experience. You don't need to know much about the products mentioned above, but you need to understand the industrial electrical environment, with an electrical qualification to match. We can teach you about the products.

Of course, if you're already a proven electrical sales professional, then we're interested in talking to you.

The sales role…

We have a role for a motivated Sales Engineer based in either our Hawkes Bay or Bay of Plenty offices, who is keen to both maintain and build relationships across the North Island industrial manufacturing, primary industries, utilities, including consultants and local bodies, and electrical contractors. You will deliver real impact through the supply and support of our high-performance and efficient industrial power solutions.

The sales of our AC motor control product (variable speed drives and soft starters), active harmonic filters and electronic power quality correction form the backbone of our business, and this is what you'll be primarily selling. The variety is huge. You can be selling a 0.75kW VSD for a horse walker, followed by the next call to a mill that needs a 300kW, 6.6kV outdoor VSD on a shredder. The same applies to power quality. It might be a 100-amp active harmonic filter on an irrigation system, then using our PQ analyser to take measurements for a 1500kVAr power factor correction system in a sawmill.

Although you will be focused on the sales of our AC motor control product and Power Quality product, we are growing fast within the renewables energy sector and EV charging market, so there will be future opportunities to diversify within our business.

Your journey with us will encompass:

• Learning our product range
• Attending professional sales training courses
• Technical training with our engineering and service team on AC motor control and Power Quality.
• Call cycle planning
• Learning how to prospect for new business and maintain existing customers
• Selling alongside our other highly skilled salespeople

We will develop and coach you to manage your own part of the North Island sales territory. You will be required to travel out of town to your sales regions.
