Hiab Sales Engineer – North Island
At TRT, we don't just build equipment — we make things possible.
For over 55 years, TRT has been designing, engineering, and delivering world-class transport and crane solutions across New Zealand and Australia. From heavy transport trailers to purpose-built cranes and specialised lifting gear, our reputation is built on innovation, reliability, and relationships.
We're a proudly family-owned business with a bold vision and strong values — we Outthink, Out serve, keep our Minds Open, and always Own It. If that sounds like you, read on.
The Role
We're looking for a driven, solutions-focused Sales Engineer who thrives on delivering exceptional customer experiences and turning challenges into opportunities.
Based in Hamilton, you'll be part of our Hiab Sales Team, representing Cargotec's premium range of products — including Hiab Truck Loader Cranes, Multilift Hooklift Systems, and Moffett All-Terrain Forklifts — across the North Island.
Your mission:
- Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers.
- Identify opportunities, deliver tailored solutions, and exceed customer expectations.
- Collaborate closely with our engineering and operations teams to deliver seamless product integration.
- Meet and exceed agreed sales, service, and performance targets.
- Maintain accurate customer and quotation data through our CRM.
Every day brings variety — from onsite visits and technical conversations to closing deals that move industries.
What You Bring
- A passion for customer service and solution-based selling.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, you listen first, then deliver.
- Proven experience in a sales or service-driven technical environment.
- High attention to detail and pride in doing things right every time.
- A desire to continually learn, grow, and represent products you're proud of.
- A clean NZ Driver's Licence and NZ residency.
(Experience in cranes, transport, or heavy equipment will be a huge plus, but attitude and drive are everything.)
Why Join TRT?
- This position offers a competitive base salary with commissions forming part of the total remuneration package.
- Genuine career development in a stable, values-driven business.
- Work alongside experts and innovators who take pride in Kiwi manufacturing excellence.
- Be part of a family culture that values teamwork, ownership, and laughing the way.
- Social Club, supportive leaders, and a role where no two days are ever the same.
Eligibility & Pre-Employment Checks
Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand. All successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks to ensure a safe and professional workplace.
Ready to Own It?
If you're ready to Outthink, Outserve, and make an impact in a business that's shaping the future of heavy transport and lifting solutions, we want to hear from you.
Apply now and make your next move. Made Possible by TRT.
