We are seeking a highly experienced National Technical Manager to lead and manage all technical operations across their Motorcycle division, while also supporting Power Equipment and Marine product lines. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions and services, overseeing warranty management, compliance, technical training, and dealer support.

You will provide strategic leadership to a national technical team and act as the principal liaison with the global factories, ensuring New Zealand market compliance and driving technical excellence across the dealer network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical operations and set robust standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Ensure technical manuals, data, and service information are accurate and accessible.
  • Deliver actionable insights from warranty and technical reporting.
  • Monitor recurring issues and dealer performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide direct support to dealers, including technical guidance, compliance audits, and conference representation.
  • Oversee technical training.
  • Ensure content is relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with emerging models and technologies.
  • Oversee warranty decision-making, cost controls, and reporting.
  • Manage compliance documentation in line with NZ legislation and global standards.
  • Facilitate recalls, service campaigns, and ensure NZTA audit compliance.
  • Act as the primary technical contact between the local organisation and the global technical teams.

About You

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in motorcycles, automotive or technical service roles, with at least 3 years in management.  5+ years in a similar technical management role with national responsibility is very desirable.
  • Trade qualification or advanced mechanical/diagnostic skills.
  • Proven success leading technical teams and dealer networks.
  • Strong communicator, able to explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Proficiency in technical systems, reporting tools, and computer applications.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
