About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Omakase Ltd as a Financial Accountant. In this full-time role based in Auckland CBD, you will be responsible for managing the company's financial accounting and reporting. The ideal candidate will have excellent Mandarin language skills to support the business's operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing processes
  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
  • Prepare GST, and other tax obligations for review and filing before deadlines
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other general ledger accounts
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making
  • Provide support for internal and external audits
  • Liaise with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to provide financial information and support
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements in financial systems and reporting
  • Assisting with ad-hoc tasks and projects as and when required

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in a financial accounting role
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with a sound understanding of financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient in Xero and Excel.
