About the role

Due to a promotion, we're on the lookout for a driven Commercial Development Underwriter to join our high-performing Northern Commercial Markets team in Auckland. This role blends commercial underwriting with business development — and at its heart, it's all about building strong relationships.

You'll take ownership of our body corporate portfolio, managing the end-to-end process for both new business and renewals. You'll work closely with our broker partners to deliver tailored solutions, drive growth, and ensure exceptional service.

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of clients across a range of Commercial Lines products, with a focus on body corporate.

  • Generate new business and maximise premium and renewal retention, while maintaining sound underwriting principles.

  • Build trusted relationships that strengthen partnerships and expand Ando's presence in the market.

  • Ensure all risks are underwritten and accepted within authorised limits.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to team-wide efficiencies.

Monitor and analyse trends across renewals and claims, achieving high levels of quote conversion and meeting turnaround time SLAs.

About you

You'll bring around 6+ years' experience working across commercial lines products, with a solid understanding of the New Zealand insurance market and emerging trends.

You're a confident communicator who builds strong connections with both brokers and internal stakeholders, and you have the drive and discipline to meet — and exceed — growth targets.

Experience with body corporate insurance products such as Property, Public Liability, and Office Bearers' Liability is a real advantage, along with familiarity with the Unit Titles Act.
