To support this work, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rangatahi Programmes and Engagement Coordinator to join our high performing and passionate team.

The Role

Reporting to the Active Schools Manager you will be part of a high performing, relational and values driven team. You'll bring your experience of working with and advocating for rangatahi and knowledge of Secondary School settings and youth development, along with involvement in coordinating programmes of work that positively influence sport and physical activity outcomes for rangatahi.

You will identify new opportunities to enhance outcomes for rangatahi, particularly those who have additional barriers to sport and physical activity participation and support the implementation of established regional initiatives making a difference for rangatahi.

Please note, this is not a delivery or coaching position, or a role that works directly with rangatahi on a regular basis.

The Ideal Person

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional role involving sport, physical activity or education coordinating the provision of physical activity opportunities that benefit young people.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in coordinating a diverse work programme, achieving quality outcomes and demonstrating impact.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the sport, physical activity and education sectors, including key strategies, philosophies, development principles and desired outcomes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including a confident and comfortable presentation style with a range of diverse audiences.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with multiple partners in the establishment and deployment of initiatives and support services.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to implementing the principles of partnership, protection, equity and access.
