Te Hononga O Tāmaki Me Hoturoa (Te Hononga) is a kaupapa Māori organization that provides Māori-centered health and well-being services and connects whanau with their communities.

x Part-Time Equivalent (0.5 FTE) position to work with our Manakidz Services:

Mana Kidz is a free nurse-led, school health programme that addresses important health issues for tamariki. Healthcare is delivered by registered nurses and whānau support workers who are based in schools during the school term. At the centre of the Mana Kidz programme is rheumatic fever prevention, but comprehensive healthcare, which includes vision and hearing checks, skin infection treatment, throat swabs, and general health assessments, is also provided.  This part-time role will be worked over 5 days a week, i.e., Monday to Friday (approximately 20 hours a week).  Hours of work: 8 am – 5 pm (negotiable) and will be based at Finlayson School, South Auckland.

What you need:

  1. Proven Medtech 32/Evolution experience. (The perfect candidate will receive training)
  2. A desire to work alongside whānau and their tamariki.
  3. Strong administration skills and computer literacy.
  4. You will be motivated, well organized, and have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  5. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in engaging and working with Māori and high needs whānau.
  6. You will be committed to ensuring our tamariki get the best possible start in life.
  7. A full New Zealand driver's licence (MANDATORY).
  8. Your own vehicle.
  9. A level of fitness required to climb stairs and move around large schools.
  10. An interest in working in the health sector, with any relevant health certificate.

We seek enthusiastic and competent individuals to become part of our vibrant team in South Auckland (Otahuhu). We are searching for Whānau Ora Support Worker whois committed to collaborating with our whānau in the community, assisting them through a Whānau Ora framework, and empowering them to meet their health and social needs while utilizing local services. Your role will enhance their well-being while making significant changes in their lives.

The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. It demands excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to assist individuals in challenging situations. A strong understanding of the local community and the ability to establish partnerships with local service providers are essential. While qualifications in this sector are desirable, they are not mandatory. This role will be based at our main office at 519 Great South Road, Otahuhu.

What we need:

  1. Medtech 32/Evolution experience or knowledge. (The ideal candidate will receive training.)

  2. Desire to collaborate with whānau in the community, driven, organized, great administrative abilities, computer literacy, and outstanding communication skills (both written and oral).

  3. Demonstrates Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles when working with Māori and high-needs whanau, including understanding of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga.

  4. Committed to giving our whanau in the community the best possible start in life.

  5. A valid New Zealand full driver's license (MANDATORY)

  6. The Children's Act 2014 requires a safety check for this role. This includes a police check.
