Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a
Kaiako to deliver our world class Ngā Poutoko Whakarara Oranga - Bachelor
of Bi-cultural Social Work Level 7
programme, which
involves but is not limited to: developing lesson plans, presenting material to
tauira (students), responding to tauira learning needs, and evaluating tauira
progress.

You
will be responsible for recruiting and inducting tauira, implementing effective
teaching and assessment strategies, monitoring academic progress, and
maintaining accurate records in accordance with TWoA and NZQA requirements.
Creating a collaborative, inclusive and culturally grounded learning
environment will be essential to the success of this role.

The successful candidate is required to engage in
Rangahau and to maintain currency of subject knowledge.

This is a Permanent Full-time (37.5
hours per
week) position, based out of the Māngere
campus in Auckland. Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and
evenings.

Mōu | About you

You will be a confident Kaiako that brings energy
and creativity that shines through in your delivery. You will
be an experienced Social Work practitioner who is able to understand Social
Work from a Māori and non-Māori perspective and, have the knowledge and ability
to plan and deliver bi-culturalism in practice (contextualized to social work).

Ideally,
applicants will have:

  • Master's degree
    (L9) in social work/related subject OR
  • Bachelor of
    Social Work AND currently undertaking a Masters' qualification
  • NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent, or be
    willing to complete during the first year of employment
  • Full
    and current registration with the NZ Social Work Registration Board; AND
  • A
    current Practising Certificate, prior to employment
  • Minimum
    5 years' experience as a registered practising social worker since qualifying
    for registration
  • Full and current NZ Driver Licence (Class 1)
  • Clean Police
    Record
  • Be
    able to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of te reo and tikanga Māori
    within a bi-cultural framework;
  • Experience
    teaching adults

Please note: This position is classed as a Core
Worker under the Vulnerable Children's Act and will need to pass a safety
check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Vulnerable Children's Act
2014.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness
to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga
Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
