East Tamaki, New Zealand RSM Full time NZ$60,000 - NZ$90,000 per year

About the Role

We're looking for a highly skilled Payroll Administrator to join our Auckland team on a fixed term basis for 12 months to cover parental leave, from 14 January 2026.

This role is central to ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our clients, while maintaining compliance with New Zealand's payroll and taxation regulations.

You'll work across multiple payroll systems—including Smartly, PayHero, Crystal Payroll, Xero, and iPayroll—and support clients in streamlining their payroll operations.

Working part-time, 30 hours per week, you'll be based at our Highbrook offices.

About Us

RSM New Zealand (Auckland) is a professional services firm offering compliance, business advisory, and specialist tax solutions to clients across a diverse range of industries. We pride ourselves on providing innovative, practical business solutions and building long-term, trusted relationships with our clients and community.

We're committed to delivering expert professional services, fostering a culture of honesty, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About You

You'll be a confident, proactive payroll professional who thrives in a deadline driven environment.  Your ability to demonstrate strong technical payroll expertise combined with exceptional attention to detail and client service will give you the edge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with Holiday Act 2003, KiwiSaver, IRD payday filing, ACC payments, and other statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including submissions to clients and government agencies.
  • Calculate and process termination payments, leave entitlements, and superannuation contributions.
  • Provide professional and timely responses to client payroll queries.
  • Support clients with payroll setup, onboarding, and system training.
  • Collaborate with the accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate payroll data reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service efficiency.

Skills & Experience:

We require a minimum of five years' experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar position, with an in-depth understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements. Excellent communication and relationship management skills and a proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and work autonomously is essential. An accounting or bookkeeping qualification, and experience with cloud-based accounting platforms will be considered advantageous.

Why Join Us?

At RSM, you'll be part of a supportive, professional, and people-focused culture where teamwork, growth, and innovation are valued. You'll enjoy opportunities for career development, continuous learning, and being part of a trusted global network.
