About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who has had entry to intermediate payroll experience, or for a candidate with a strong interest in payroll who brings processing experience, a focus on data integrity, and exceptional attention to detail.

You will assist with the accurate processing of weekly/fortnightly/monthly payrolls, maintain employee records, allowances & deductions, and assist with other tasks required to ensure the payroll function runs efficiently. The key deliverable of this role is to ensure all payrolls are processed accurately, approved and released for payment so that our employees are always paid correctly and on time.

You will work proactively with Managers/employees at all levels to provide payroll assistance, as required, ensuring strict confidentiality and adhering to privacy laws. A key part of this role is also to have knowledge and or interest in, payroll related legislation including Holidays, Employment Relations, Privacy and Kiwisaver Acts, Employment and Taxation laws.

About You

You are likely detail oriented in nature, systematic and organised. Have a can-do attitude and focus on building strong internal relationships, combined with a passion to deliver exceptional results. To be successful in this dynamic and fast paced environment, you will have:

  • 1–2 years' experience in payroll or a processing-focused role, ideally in a medium to large organisation (400+ employees)
  • Intermediate skill in Word, Excel, SAP and data entry whilst being generally tech savvy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good customer service ethic
  • The ability to prioritise, and adapt easily, with great time management skills
  • A methodical and systematic approach to work with a sharp eye for detail
  • The drive to learn new skills and being open to new ways of doing things
  • Can work effectively in a high-pressure environment and problem solve
  • Affinity Payroll Software experience is advantageous
