We're seeking a high-calibre, experienced finance professional to lead our Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you'll play a key role in supporting Council to achieve its vision of being Economically Progressive while ensuring Waipā remains an attractive, affordable, and well-managed district for residents and businesses alike.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide accurate, timely, and insightful financial support to enable effective decision-making and service delivery.
  • Oversee financial reporting, treasury management, system administration, and key control functions.
  • Lead strategic and operational financial planning, ensuring sound financial management both short and long term.
  • Manage the rating function in line with Council policy and legislative requirements.
  • Champion a culture of financial and commercial awareness across the organisation.

About you:

You're a confident and influential finance leader who inspires performance and builds capability within your team. Calm under pressure and clear in your communication, you balance strategic vision with hands-on delivery. You bring:

  • Proven experience in senior financial management and leadership roles.
  • A track record of producing high-quality financial reports in line with IPSAS (Tier 1).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • A CA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Local government experience would be an advantage, but strong commercial or Big 4 accounting firm experience will also be highly regarded.
