Otago Boys' High School is seeking an organised and precise person to be our Science Technician.  The role requires a strong knowledge or background in science.

The role of Science Technician is to assist, and where practicable and reasonable, make decisions and support safe lab practices for Science teachers to enhance the Science curriculum at Otago Boys' High School.   The areas of responsibility are outlined below.

  • Ensuring the safe storage of equipment in the Department.
  • Ensuring that all safety protocols are followed with regard to the preparation of materials.
  • Ensuring that the labs are serviced with the requested equipment.
  • To clean and correctly store materials after use.
  • To order materials to ensure the running of the Department.

In addition, you would be required to assist the Head of Department when necessary.

This role is 20 hours per week (8.30am-12.30pm) Monday to Friday, term time only position.

Ideally we would like the successful applicant to start Term 1 2026, Monday 2 February and ending Friday 4 December 2026.
