We are seeking a Science Technician to join our dynamic Science Department for 8 hours per week. This is a part-time, term-time only position, ideal for someone with a passion for science education and a strong commitment to health and safety.

About the Role

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education across the College. You will assist with the preparation and maintenance of equipment and materials, support staff and students during practical sessions, and contribute to the safe and efficient running of our laboratories.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment and resources for practical work, assessments, and field trips.
  • Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions.
  • Maintaining safe storage and handling of chemicals and biological materials.
  • Assisting with inventory, ordering, and administrative tasks.
  • Contributing to health and safety practices.
  • Supporting the Agriscience and Agribusiness teaching spaces with indoor and outdoor plant growing facilities, and food based practical sessions.
  • Part time, term time only – 8 hours per week.
  • Flexibility to take on additional hours as and when required.

About You

You will bring:

  • A Diploma in Applied Science (Level 5 or 6) or a Bachelor of Science, or equivalent or a proven high level of experience with chemicals.
  • Experience in a technical role within a scientific or educational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical and biological safety practices.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and a genuine enthusiasm for science education.
