We are seeking a Learning Assistant to work alongside students in years 7-13. This exciting role requires a passion for learning coupled with approachability and exceptional relationship building and communication skills.  Experience in a similar role and/or a teaching qualification would be an advantage.

St Peter's is one of New Zealand's leading independent secondary schools, providing a first class education for 1200 students, including co-educational boarding for 350 students from New Zealand and around the world. St Peter's is more than a school, sitting on 250 acres, that includes an expansive demonstration dairy farm, equestrian centre, golf driving range, swim school and more, all providing an inspirational experience and transformative environment for the school and wider community.

Key aspects of the role will include in-class support, individualised and small group learning support.  The successful candidate will:  

  • Possess a desire to "make a positive difference" for adolescents in education
  • Have an understanding and ideally experience supporting students with learning, as well as the ability to build and maintain effective, productive, and respectful working relationships
  • Display initiative and the ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision
  • Computer literate, with a willingness to use adaptative technologies to support student learning
  • Able to interpret data to plan targeted interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and colleagues
  • Be willing to undertake regular professional learning

This is a permanent position starting Term 1, with hours from 8.15am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday during the school term.
