Maternity cover (12-month fixed term starting mid to end Jan 2026)

Are you passionate about driving excellence and shaping the future of capital delivery? We're looking for a senior specialist who thrives on partnering with project and programme leaders to make things better every day in the world of Portfolio, Programme and Project Management. In this role, you'll lead and support transformation, continuous improvement and assurance across our capital portfolio, ensuring we deliver with confidence and quality.

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Office, you'll be the go-to expert for lifting our delivery capability to the next level. You'll bring a broad mix of experience across projects, programmes, PMO, and assurance, and you'll use that expertise to embed a culture of improvement and change. Your work will set the standards we aspire to and underpin the maturity of our portfolio delivery.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience

  • Minium of a Tertiary qualification or bachelor's degree in management or engineering.
  • 10+ experience project/ programme management experience and/or ePMO/ PMO establishment and management experience in large public or private sector organisations.
  • 5+ years' experience in leading through change and/or change management.
  • The ability to translate technical knowledge and information into layman's terms or business speak and vice versa.
  • High level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience in large public or private sector organisations.
  • Prince2, PMBOK, Management of Portfolios (MoP), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or similar qualifications.
  • Proven strong influencing and relationship skills.
  • Trusted advisor recognised for thought leadership.
  • Meeting facilitation skills.
  • Driven to achieve goals with passion and energy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with Treasury's BBC model.
  • Experience with external assurance providers and other large consultancy agencies (e.g., building and construction consultancies, engineering, QS, QRA etc).
