Our Drury yard site has an immediate opening for a Yard Manager. The Yard Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the auction yard including occupational and environmental health and safety, yard team management, and financial accountability, as well as the general organization of the yard to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the Drury yard operations and related off-site sale locations.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for a hands-on manager who is capable of effectively juggling many things at once

In this role, you'll:

  • Supervise and develop full-time and part-time yard staff to their full potential with respect to job performance and the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all corporate and legislated health and safety and environmental policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Responsible for meeting the yard operations budget, and creating and maintaining operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Arrange for and schedule all sale day casual staff.
  • Oversee yard layout and equipment lineup.
  • Manage all building, yard, and equipment maintenance programs.
  • Manage paint contractors and other site-related vendors.
  • Plan the refurbishing schedule and budget; control purchase orders and cost sheets.
  • Ensure equipment is in sale-ready condition.
  • Coordinate site security.
  • Actively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of your team, co-workers, and customers.

Here's what you will bring:

  • Prior experience effectively leading and managing or supervising multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with or knowledge of industrial and/or agricultural equipment, trucks, and trailers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Previous cost management experience and a background in business fundamentals and business financial knowledge are preferred
  • Proven experience providing exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to learn new systems
  • Top-notch written and verbal communication skills (on this job your most valuable tools will be the 2-way radio, a cell phone, and a desk phone)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • A good fitness level - this is an active job
  • A clean, valid driver's license, passport or passport eligibility, and ability to travel as needed to meet business objectives
  • A strong work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humor or your ability to have fun on the job.

This role will require you to:

  • Travel to other Ritchie Bros. sale sites from time to time, Including trips to Australia.
  • Work overtime hours, including weekends, in the weeks surrounding each sale
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment and trucks
  • Work outside for the vast majority of the day in all types of weather.
