Who We Are

DBC Building Services is a family owned multi-specialised business, offering services across HVAC, plumbing and drainage, sheet metal fabrication and medical gases throughout the south island.

About the Role

With a large amount of forward work DBC is looking for an experienced QS to join our Dunedin team full time. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost management, including estimating, budgeting, cost control, and value engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects

  • Monitor project costs and provide regular reports to project managers and commercial manager - Understanding of the claims, variations & final accounts process

  • Prepare variations for submission to clients

  • Procure subcontractors and suppliers

  • Assist estimating team with tenders as required

Experience Required

  • Relevant QS qualification or trade background

  • Experience in building services would be advantageous but not required

  • Understanding of construction contracts & relevant legislations

  • Proficient in reading and understanding drawings, take off preparation and job pricing.

  • Experienced in cost control, cost management, and cost planning.

  • Confident communication skills with client facing experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, cost management software and estimating software
