About the role
With new ownership on the horizon, we are seeking an Estimator to join our dynamic team at Hickey Contractors, on a part-time contract basis, with the opportunity to increase hours and responsibility as grow further. As our Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects in the Bay of Plenty region. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of construction estimating to support the successful delivery of our clients' projects.
What you'll be doing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering all relevant materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify and quantify required resources
- Handover and collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates are comprehensive and align with project requirements
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost databases to support accurate and efficient estimating
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to the project team to optimise costs and identify potential savings
- Continuously research and stay up-to-date with market trends, pricing, and industry best practices
What we're looking for
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Estimator
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for a variety of construction projects
- Proficient in the use of estimating software and tools, such as Excel and specialised estimating applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risk
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations
