The Sales Development Representative role is responsible for hunting and converting new SMB and mid-market businesses onto the Sidekicker platform, as well as driving platform usage within existing SMB and mid-market cohorts. The role is based in Auckland but will be primarily phone-based and targeting businesses throughout New Zealand, supporting new businesses coming onto the platform in adopting the Sidekicker platform to grow Sidekicker's share of wallet and revenue. To succeed in this role, you will be customer-focused and can identify opportunities, with previous experience in outbound sales/cold-calling and managing inbound leads at scale.
Core responsibilities include:
- Implement targeted outreach activity (cold-calling) to grow longtail SMB and mid-market portfolio within targeted industries, develop and pitch proposals to close deals.
- Qualify and close potential leads from various channels including the Sidekicker website, Sidekicker customer database, social media campaigns, event and conference attendance and referrals.
- Manage, sell, grow and onboard any new business leads as they come into Sidekicker New Zealand.
- Provide regular reports and updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities and report on all inbound/outbound sales metrics at weekly and monthly meetings.
- Nurture SMB and mid-market customers through the early lifecycle and identify potential future Key Accounts from within the SMB and mid-market portfolio to transition across to the New Zealand Account Director.
- Develop a strong understanding of clients within your portfolio that includes their business drivers and strategies, competitive position in the marketplace, industry trends, key strategic partner relationships, as well as key executives and decision-makers.
- Plan and implement a structured call cycle across the existing SMB and mid-market customer database to drive client satisfaction and deepen platform usage to increase Sidekicker's share of wallet.
- Act as a point of contact for identified SMB and mid-market clients to ensure all requirements are met and that the client understands Sidekicker's processes and operations.
- Meet assigned new business revenue targets for the SMB and mid-market segment.
- Meet assigned re-engagement/upsell/retention revenue targets for our customers within the existing mid-market and SMB portfolios.
- Meet your weekly defined engagement metrics - likely to be 50+ connected calls per week.
- Retain all your accounts by ensuring Sidekicker is providing the best quality service and further education on the value of our platform
- Build strong relationships with your accounts to deeply understand their needs so that you can support and identify opportunities for increased spend with our platform.
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience working in a BDM role ideally within a technology based business
- A proven ability to convert cold leads to new business sales, and manage a high volume of clients.
- A hustlers mentality and love for connecting with customers and potential customers in person and on the phone
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- A high level of verbal and written communication skills
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to frame a value proposition and ask the right questions to be able to overcome objections to gain commitment
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently
