We are currently seeking an Operator Maintainer to join our team in Rotorua.

The role

TRILITY operate and maintain the Rotorua and Rotoiti Wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, Networks and Forest irrigation/land disposal systems.

We are seeking someone self-motivated and physically fit to undertake the maintenance and operation of the Whakarewarewa forest irrigation system (Land treatment System - LTS). You will be the lead in a team of two who will spend their time divided 70/30 between operating and maintaining the LTS system and supporting the plant and pump station operations.

As an Operator Maintainer you will be responsible for a range of operational and maintenance tasks.

In the forest this involves clearing scrub and fallen trees, maintaining pipework and sprinklers, carrying out operational inspections on mechanical equipment and supervising contractors.

In the plant and pump stations you will be involved in preventative and reactive operational and maintenance activities including participation in the on-call roster and rostered weekend work.

You will have a high sense of 'ownership' for the facilities you work on and will apply yourself to a broad range of tasks reporting to the Operations Team Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure TRILITY systems for Safety, Quality and Environment are used, and that all activities undertaken on TRILITY sites comply with these.
  • Undertake and document maintenance activities (both planned and unplanned) this predominantly involves routine inspections and repairs of pipework/sprinklers and vegetation control in the forest and operating machinery, basic preventative maintenance and response to equipment failures in the wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Monitoring and documentation of plant performance including anticipating equipment failure and taking appropriate action and responding to plant and process alarms
  • Organise and supervise contractors delivering maintenance services e.g. Electrical and mechanical trades
  • For the wastewater treatment plants and pump stations you will be involved in daily operations related to machinery and process.
  • Participation in the on-call roster and rostered weekend work.

What we are looking for

  • Being physically fit for working in the forest
  • Experience with maintenance and/or machinery
  • Be self-driven and motivated to use your initiative to take the lead
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Have an aptitude for dealing with plant-related problems
  • Be a reliable team member and be an effective communicator
  • Be able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Be able to work as part of an on-call roster
  • Have a current New Zealand driver's license
  • Certificate III in infrastructure works or water/wastewater operations or a relevant trade will be highly regarded
  • Desire to work towards nationally recognised waste water treatment qualifications.
  • Reasonable practical experience in the water industry or a related industry will be highly regarded..
