ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for an engaging, driven, and passionate Assistant Accountant to help provide financial accounting support and customer-focused high-quality advice.

Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager, this role supports the wider accounting team in managing accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth flow of finance and accounting operations for the company.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reallocation and accrual journals
  • Prepayments
  • Statistical returns
  • Assisting with capital expenditure request processing
  • Responsibility for GST and FBT
  • Assistance with month-end and year-end reporting
  • Assistance with internal and external audit requests

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance and at least 3 years of experience in an accounting/finance, preferably within a large corporate or a chartered accountancy practice.

The successful candidate will have and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Understanding of accounting software experience such as SAP (or equivalent) is ideal, along with an excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • A good base knowledge of accounting processes is required, but most importantly you will have the appetite and know-how to step up into more complex financial transactions and an eagerness to improve processes for greater efficiency.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills that make building connections with your team, and the wider business, a breeze.
  • Be passionate about your work and what you do and leave things better than you found them.
  • Have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
