Mo te tunga | About the role

The Advisor Enabling Communities position is responsible for engaging with and supporting Iwi / M ori, key stakeholders and communities at a regional and local level through a strategic approach to improve outcomes.

You will be part of a team supporting wh nau / families and communities by pursuing a relational approach to commissioning for wellbeing. A big part of this will be enhancing provider and community capacity and capability to respond to priority needs and improve outcomes for children, families and communities.

The relational approach starts with agreeing to shared goals and outcomes. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to engage with stakeholders and build strong partnerships. You will have the ability to work and lead in a collaborative and innovative way in cross-agency settings, build relationships and trust to identify shared goals and outcomes, facilitate working together to share resources and act on agreed priorities. You will have a focus on engaging with Iwi and M ori, as well as community providers, staying connected through trust-based relationships and sharing accountabilities for success, failure, and other changes. You will be negotiating, managing and monitoring contracts with providers against agreed funding plans.

Ng pumanawatanga ou | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Provide support to internal stakeholders and external partners to help with the development of community funding plans as well as contribute to team planning process.
  • Facilitate the implementation of new initiatives, practice enhancements and systems, as well as work with the community to identify gaps in services in order provide solutions and areas of development.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with providers as well as manage funding and contracting activities in time and within budget.
  • Ensure potential risks are identified, minimised, monitored and reported on throughout all processes. Ability to advise on potential risks, emerging issues and collate and report on information.
  • Prior experience in building and managing relationships with key external partners such as iwi relationships, community groups and local government.
  • Strong communication skills in order to distribute key information relating to initiatives and interagency projects as well as provide a high level of engagement with key community partners.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga M ori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
