Working with the AA | Me mahi tahi tatou ki AA
For over 120 years the AA have been helping Kiwis on their adventures Today, we're one of New Zealand's most respected and trusted brands. From our humble beginnings as a motoring enthusiast's club, the New Zealand AA (Automobile Association) has grown into a large, dynamic organisation offering many services and products to more than a million Members.
And now, we're building the organisation of the future – more connected, modern, and purpose-driven. We are a business in transformation, with opportunities to work cross-functionally, grow new skills, and make a meaningful impact. We're investing in our people, platforms, and ways of working to stay ahead of what our Members and customers need.
As we continue this growth journey, we need someone passionate about unlocking the transformative power of AI across an organisation to join our Data, Insights & AI team as an AI Enablement Specialist, and help shape the future of intelligent transformation.
What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga
As our AI Enablement Specialist, you'll be a trusted partner and advocate for AI across the business—championing its potential, identifying impactful opportunities, and guiding teams through adoption with clarity and confidence. In this newly created role, you'll work closely with business units aligned to strategic value streams, helping them uncover where AI can drive meaningful outcomes.
You'll facilitate conversations that bridge technical possibilities with business needs, translating complexity into compelling narratives that inspire action. Whether it's a plug-and-play tool or a bespoke solution, you'll ensure AI initiatives are grounded in value, ethically implemented, and embraced by stakeholders. You'll also collaborate with data scientists, IT teams, and governance leads to shape frameworks that support responsible AI use.
About You | Mōu
You're a natural connector—curious, commercially minded, and confident in your ability to influence and inspire. You thrive in dynamic environments where innovation meets business strategy, and you know how to bring people on the journey.
Rather than deep technical solutioning, your strength lies in spotting opportunities, building trust, and facilitating challenging conversations with empathy and impact. You're a skilled storyteller who can simplify the complex, lead large workshops with presence, and foster strong relationships across diverse teams.
You bring:
- A solid understanding of AI tools and concepts, with the ability to translate them into business value
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices and governance
- A proactive, customer-focused mindset and a drive for results
- A relevant degree in data science, computer science, or a related field
What We Offer | Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou
- Free AA Membership for you and your whānau
- NZAA Super Scheme with 2% employer contributions on top of 3% Kiwisaver
- A day off for your birthday
- Hybrid working arrangement
- Training available / career development
- Discounted insurance
Here, we offer a lot more than roadside assistance. We're constantly evolving and advancing into new businesses, offering new challenges and a range of opportunities.
If you're passionate about helping teams unlock the power of AI, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
Our teams celebrate diversity and believe that everyone should be able to bring their true selves to work every day. We want you to feel comfortable to be your authentic self throughout the recruitment process, please feel free to let us know if there is anything you need to allow you to participate equitably.
We are aware that there will be candidates who are interested in the role but may only feel comfortable to apply if they have ticked all the boxes. We want you to know that if you feel like you don't meet all the requirements, please still get in touch. We'd love to korero to see if you might be a great fit for the role.
