Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is looking for a Team Lead who can oversee the work being done by the Research Office and Research Professors. With already well-established systems for mentoring, reporting, funding and monitoring research - the Research Office requires a Team Lead to maintain the excellence and effectiveness of this small but effective team. This is a permanent role, of 0.2FTE, and is based on the Nelson campus.

This is an exciting time for research at NMIT, as NMIT becomes a stand alone Polytechnic, and prepares to adapt to the emerging context of Tertiary Research Excellence Fund (TREF).

In this opportunity you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a string working relationship with the Curriculum Area Managers and Team Leads who are responsible for the teaching staff on degree programmes.
  • Provide leadership to the research team and research proffessors.
  • Ensure Te Tiriti o Waitangi honouring practices, approaches, and partnerships are upheld in NMIT's Research activities.
  • Develop, allocate and monitor the work of all Research Office staff, Research Professors and systems.
