We are seeking an exceptional Academic Staff Member to join our Applied Business team at NMIT, teaching Applied Management courses across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This is a permanent, full-time position (1.0 FTE, 36 hours per week) based at our Nelson Campus.

Our team is made up of passionate educators and dedicated support staff who are committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where our ākonga feel supported, challenged, and inspired.

We're looking for someone who not only brings academic expertise but also has the ability to connect meaningfully with young people, especially school leavers, and ignite their enthusiasm for studying business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering, planning, organising, and assessing course content for Applied Business courses at Levels 5 to 8
  • Supporting learners to achieve their academic goals and complete their qualifications
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and completing documentation to a high standard

You're an engaging educator who brings energy, empathy, and relevance to the classroom. You understand how to motivate and inspire learners, especially those at the beginning of their academic journey. You're a strong communicator, a collaborative team member, and someone who uses innovative teaching strategies to foster curiosity and confidence in your students.

Applicants must have:

  • A relevant Masters qualification
  • Tertiary teaching experience

Advantageous to have:

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Research Outputs
  • Academic research supervision experience
  • Expertise or experience in HR, Marketing, Strategic Management & Change and Innovation
