About the role: As the Software License Manager, you will essentially own the governing processes and practices related to managing the software landscape at DIA. You will take a leading role in the long-term strategic direction of our software footprint, as well as provide the daily operational management of these key assets. This multi-faceted and influential role involves being across all software needs of the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance rules are fully met for all third-party software vendors and leading DIA's response to software audit activities
- Oversee contractual negotiations and procurement strategies for software licensing whilst maintaining Government procurement rules
- Ensure efficient utilisation and optimising software usage (including cost control) across both the server and client-side environments
- Manage the daily operational responsibilities of DIA's software estate with the assistance of 'Team Admin - Software Assets'
- Assist in investigating, advising and resolving operational software license issues and enquiries where necessary
- Provide key input for setting and managing effective Technology financial budgets across the software estate
- Proactively utilise and develop the best possible ROI of our existing software assets using 'SNOW' our Software Asset Management tool
- Ensure prompt and accurate reconciliation of all recoverable software costs
- Point of contact within our branch as SME / consultant
- Participate in Governance Boards and Technical Advisory panels
- Lead continuous improvement in all aspects of software licensing
- Helping drive improved asset management practices
- Recommend new services / innovations
**Your background**:
- Preferably 10+ years in the ICT industry, with the last 5 years specialising in software management and licencing
- Expertise in managing key software vendor contracts (like Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe etc)
- Experience running and managing SAM tools and being a major contributor to a SAM strategy
- History of software cost reduction and optimisation in previous roles
- Proven ability to build strong relationships internally and with key partners to deliver outstanding consultancy services and support
- Ability to communicate complex licensing concepts and models at a level which builds business understanding
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, knowledge of IT Managed Services, and an ITIL / ITAM qualification
