Manager Business and Partnerships - Kaiwhakahaere - Whakahoatanga Pakihi
- Join the Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua, the Tertiary Education Commision (TEC) Delivery Directorate Leadership whānau as a tier 3 senior manager.
- Take a key leadership role in developing relationships between the iwi, hapū, Māori and other partner stakeholders, Workforce Development Councils (WDCs), Regional Skill Leadership Groups (RSLGs), employers, industry, communities, and local and central government.
- Lead a team responsible for the building and the maintaining of those relationships.

The Māori economy is developing rapidly. Critical to the success of the Māori economy will be developing education and training systems that work for Māori. A key focus of this role will be the deepening of relationships to work in partnership with iwi and hapū across New Zealand to support improved outcomes for all Māori learners and their communities, and ensuring te ao Māori, tikanga Māori, and Māori values and perspectives shape our work.

**Ratonga**: Delivery Directorate
This role is part of the Delivery Directorate which is the customer-facing unit of the organisation and is responsible for the implementation/delivery of all (investment and careers) TEC products and services, relationship management, Māori/ iwi partnership, negotiation, performance management and monitoring.

**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
The role is about building a proactive and customer-centric business unit, and takes care of the important management and leadership responsibilities to enable the smooth running of the team and organisation.

**Relationship Management /System Relationships**:

- Ensure a regionally distributed network of Relationship Managers whose job it is to work with employers, RSLGs, industry, communities, local government, iwi, hapū and our pubic sector partner agencies.
- Ensure that Relationship Managers work in partnership with mana whenua to identify impacts and opportunities across the tertiary sector.
- Build trust, rapport and credibility with Māori and support the team to engage with Māori on both long-term strategy and specific issues as they arise.

**Business Development**:

- Develop and build high trust and productive relationships, seeking out and leveraging opportunities to increase TEC's profile, brand, and influence.
- Lead and manage the resolution of tertiary education-based tribunal claims and formal agreements with Māori.

**Management of people and performance**:

- Ensure the Pacific Work Connect Team deliver on the terms of their contract.
- Set expectations (including standards for excellence), actively managing the performance of staff ensuring performance and development plans are in place, staff receive coaching and feedback, and ensures accountability to required standards through active, coaching and development and

**Directorate Leadership**: Acts as a role model for staff, communicates and gains acceptance of the TEC's vision, goals and organisational values and gives effect to the Code of Conduct. Responds constructively to changing conditions, circumstances, and promotes a positive attitude to change.

**He kōrero mōu**: What we are looking for
We are looking for people who bring a mix of skills and experience:

- Leadership: Proven experience in a leadership role and managing a strategic relationship function in a corporate environment. Experience in leading and developing teams.
- Te ao Māori: Experience championing te ao Māori within an organisation and influencing widely. Credibility and a good reputation with Māori networks, government sector and other stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of tikanga Māori.
- Delivery and outcomes focused: Proven experience in delivering excellent outcomes for customers and for the organisation
- Cultural awareness: Expert understanding of Crown responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the aspirations and needs of Māori.

The salary range for this position starts from $156,309 to $183,893 depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
