This senior leadership position is about much more than fundraising – it's about relationships. The Communications, Fundraising and Relationships team at Wellington City Mission builds the trust and connections that sustain the Mission financially. Through storytelling, vision casting, and genuine human connection, they invite people to join them in building a community where every person can experience empowerment, transformation, and fullness of life.
As Manager – Donor Engagement & Partnerships, you'll provide strategic direction and people leadership, guiding a small team to engage donors and partners in authentic, values-driven ways. You'll ensure that relationships are built first, stories are shared meaningfully, and opportunities are created to align generosity with what matters most – both to supporters and to the Mission.
What you'll do
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of Relationship Managers to build authentic, values-aligned partnerships
- Shape and deliver a strategic engagement approach that fosters trust, connection, and sustainable support
- Personally manage relationships with key donors and partners, modelling empathetic and credible engagement
- Collaborate across the organisation to craft compelling narratives that demonstrate real community impact
- Drive innovation, insight, and continuous improvement to strengthen connection and income growth
What we're looking for
- Proven people leadership experience, with a collaborative and empowering leadership style
- Strategic and innovative thinker, likely with a background in communications, sales, marketing, or fundraising
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
- Exceptional communication, storytelling and influencing skills to connect generosity with impact
- Strong commercial acumen combined with empathy and authenticity
- A deep connection to or passion for Wellington and its communities
