Reporting into the Head of Transport Sustainability, as a Principal Sustainability Advisor you will lead the development of strategic advice on greenhouse gas emission reduction and the integration of sustainability into decision making across Auckland Transport.

This is a key role for AT, combining technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration to develop successful targets, policies, plans, and initiatives that reduce emissions and ensure climate change adaptation; and then supporting the business in implementation. The role works across AT's operations, suppliers and the wider transport system.

We are looking for strong technical experience in climate change and sustainability, with breadth of experience more important than experience in the transport sector. You will have led the development and implementation of pragmatic and effective sustainability initiatives and strategic documents. You will also have experience across large organisations - providing specialist support, tracking progress, and winning the trust of colleagues and stakeholders.

Critical to being successful in this role is engaging and collaborating with others; this is the foundation to develop the targets, plans and initiatives.

A clear and concise communicator, you will have the ability to translate technical expertise into influential advice and practical initiatives and have the writing skills to provide high-quality reports and presentations. Experience writing Board papers or similar is advantageous.
