We are looking for a Manager, Management Assurance to join the growing Data Analytics and Strategy (DA&S) team to provide expert risk management support. If you have risk management experience but want a change of context or pace this role offers the challenge of supporting a new business unit. It's also a very exciting area to work in because our Data and Analytics function provide the engine for so many important activities across the bank.

We sat down with our Head of Management Assurance (who you'd report to), and she let us know the following about the Manager, Management Assurance tūranga (role);
**What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?**

The role is quite varied, but most days involve collaboration with others including:

- Delivering the Management Assurance plan activities, ensuring key risk metrics and critical timelines are met
- Running risk deep dives and presenting training sessions to DA&S teams and other stakeholders
- Coaching stakeholders in performing risk uplift activities such as controls redesign
- Guiding stakeholders to explore potential issues, understand their root cause, and finding a solution
- Performing assurance activities such as control testing

**What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?**

The DA&S division is still growing into itself and evolving -, we have open discussions and collaborate to agree what is our DA&S way of doing things. There is a lot of energy that comes with that.

We are on a journey to optimise our risk management practices, and your work can make a tangible difference to our risk maturity and capability. There also are great development opportunities within our team as we all do a bit of everything, enabling you to develop a broad and deep skill set. You would have a chance to shape what you work on from our management assurance plan.

**What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?**

That we run and build activities at the same time. We have a workplan of established risk management activities to deliver, but also have a lot of uplift activities to get us to our longer-term goals. Balancing immediate and long-term priorities is an ongoing challenge that we handle by being adaptable as a team and having open communication about work in progress.

You will be proactive and able to progress multiple diverse items of work at a time. Having curiosity and being a fast learner will help you make the most of all the resources available to support you. Great stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate is key to your success - people need to trust you and feel comfortable raising their concerns, knowing that you have the expertise to help resolve them.

You smoothly deliver all our key assurance activities to a high standard. You can demonstrate that your work has made the division stronger by identifying and solving problems before they impact DA&S operations or objectives. Our stakeholders seek out and value your support. You make risk management activities easy and engaging, and they deliver their risk and compliance responsibilities with confidence.
