**Manager Risk and Assurance - Fixed Term (12 Months), Full Time**

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for assurance and risk management? NZQA is seeking an experienced and inspiring Manager, Risk and Assurance to ensure the continuity of critical assurance and risk functions during a 12-month parental leave period.

**In this pivotal role, you will**:

- Lead and manage NZQA's Risk and Assurance, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver on the annual internal audit and assurance strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders and governance groups on risk mitigation and control effectiveness.
- Oversee the performance of internal staff and external co-sourced assurance providers.
- Maintain NZQA's risk management framework and promote a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation.
- Prepare and present reports and papers to the Risk & Assurance Committee and Strategic Leadership Team.
- Create an environment that supports effective cross-functional collaboration.

**What we're looking for**:

- Proven experience in internal assurance, risk management, or a related field (previous public sector experience is preferred)
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder relationships.
- Solid knowledge of the internal assurance standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
