The Auckland Metro Programme (AMP) team is responsible for the delivery of a wide programme of network capital activities under the Auckland Rail Development Programme and is also responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the City Rail Link (CRL) project.

Reporting to the Programme Director, the **Systems Assurance Manager** will lead systems assurance in support of KiwiRail’s capital projects, including but not limited to AMP and CRL, as well as operations by establishing strategic direction, processes and practices in systems assurance, aligned with EN50126 standards, and in support of KiwiRail’s Railway Safety Case and its variations. This role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations, providing expert advice, and engaging with key stakeholders to achieve the best project and operational outcomes. The role will include a mix of responsibilities that span the full spectrum of systems assurance and safety case management. This will also include technical systems assurance deliverables within individual business areas as required. The Systems Assurance Manager will also provide support to the wider business as required including the Zero Harm Regulatory team.

**What you’ll do**
- Develop and implement systems assurance frameworks and methodologies.
- Lead the technical implementation of system safety assurance functions.
- Provide high-level strategic advice to senior management on systems assurance.
- Develop and implement a railway safety assurance framework for capital projects that supports KiwiRail’s safety case variation submissions.
- Lead the capital projects’ efforts around system safety and assurance from project initiation to the handover and closeout phase.
- Collaborate with project teams for the integration of systems assurance into project planning and execution.
- Ensure robust safety justifications and risk assessments.
- Specify systems assurance requirements for KiwiRail delivered projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory standards.
- Manage stakeholder engagement to promote and enhance systems assurance practices.
- Continuously monitor and improve systems assurance processes.
- Grow the systems safety assurance skillset within the organisation.

**What you’ll need**
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Experience working with a large complex project and organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in system assurance frameworks and processes, particularly within the rail industry and other high-risk industries.
- Proven implementation of EN50126 standards and the requirements of the Railways Act.
- Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and foster good stakeholder relationships.
