Our Civil Infrastructure team in Wellington is still growing and we are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to become a key member of our multi-disciplined design engineering team.

To be successful in the role you will utilise your considerable technical and industry experience to provide structural design engineering input to project teams, developing safe project solutions, and supervising construction activities.

You will provide leadership to professional and technical staff on a range of projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AECOM clients. You will also be involved in regular client liaison, business development and winning work.

**As a Principal Civil / Structures Engineer you will**:

- Undertake and lead general structural engineering work including design and planning for projects for both government and private clients.
- Reviewing and verification of calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings
- Help in the development and maintaining a high level of technical skill in the team
- Training and mentor junior team members
- Knowledge and experience in health and safety requirements, Safety and Design, and developing appropriate safety plans
- Actively participate in business and strategic planning activities to identify opportunities and to sustain the growth of the business in short, medium and longer term.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external parties to ensure maximum benefit is achieved for AECOM from these relationships.
- Provide high quality technical advice to clients and ensures that the needs of clients are understood and met
- Support AECOM business leaders and project management team in capturing opportunities from clients, submitting proposals and project management of civil infrastructure project
- Support other AECOM business lines in project delivery of structural engineering scope

Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated experience of delivering wide range of industry projects (i.e. water, power, buildings and transport)
- Demonstrated experience in structural design of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures
- Demonstrated experience of using structural engineering software
- Demonstrated experience in seismic design, seismic assessment and seismic retrofit of existing buildings and civil structures
- Experience in relevant local council and national standards
- Preferably in excess of 10 years' experience in a civil-structural engineering role
- Engineer to the Contract’ or ‘Engineers Representative’ qualifications would be an advantage
- Experience in technical advisor or technical reviewer roles for clients
- Experience in successfully leading project teams
- Experience working as a Consultant.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- CPEng qualified would be preferable but not essential
