MBIE’s Learning and Development team sits within the People & Culture (P&C) branch. The Learning and Development (L&D) team shape the learning agenda for MBIE and manage delivery of MBIE-wide learning programmes to meet organisational learning priorities, including Leadership Development, Maori Cultural Capability and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as well as business unit specific technical learning.
MBIE’s Learning and Development Team has just won 5 Global LearnX Awards which is recognition of the high standard of L&D work that this undertaken in this team to achieve best practice learning for the organisation.
We have a 6-month fixed-term opportunity to join the team as a Senior L&D Advisor supporting the All of MBIE portfolio. This is the largest, most diverse and widest reaching portfolio of Learning across MBIE.
Not only will you support and lead work that is challenging, interesting and varied you will also have a real opportunity make a difference and develop your ideas in significant and impactful Learning programmes. This will include, but is not limited to, Leadership Development, Maori Cultural Capability, Diversity Equity and Inclusion and more. You will work closely with the Principal Advisor to support development of an L&D Strategy and the build the development of business unit specific L&D plan’s as well as engaging with leaders and key stakeholders across the organisation to provide your expertise and advice to deliver solutions and initiatives centred on business' needs.
You will bring to this role your significant Learning and Development expertise in working in a similar environment, your ability to manage multiple priorities and to think strategically about how to spend the L&D budget to achieve capability increase for the organisation. You will also be keen to be part of a team that is focused delivering high quality work in a fun and supportive way.
This role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, travel to Wellington will be required. We will help you manage a healthy work-life balance; with flexi-time and some days working from home options.

- Proven experience managing an L&D portfolio, working with senior leaders preferably within a government environment
- Excellent influencing/promotional, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience in developing strategic L&D plans that provide a proven capability shift
- The ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively, to ensure high quality results within deadlines
- Proven ability to write papers for a Senior audience
