The role | Mō te tūnga
As a Senior Advisor working in the Office of the Chief Executive and Government Statistician you will be a motivated and results-driven person who is hardworking, adaptable and approachable. You'll be responsible for a portfolio of work and will provide high-quality advice and insights on a range of matters affecting the organisation to Stats NZ leadership and to our Ministerial offices. As an Advisor you will lead machinery of government processes and support a smaller portfolio of work as you are actively supported to grow within the role.

**You will be**:

- shaping advice to our Chief Executive, the Executive Leadership team, our Ministers, and Central Agencies
- helping manage the relationship between Stats NZ and our Ministers and their offices
- taking a strategic view of opportunities and challenges for the Chief Executive and the organisation as a whole
- championing Stats NZ's strategic priorities and direction, both internally and externally
- providing strategic and practical guidance and high-quality advice to the organisation on machinery of government and parliamentary processes (including select committee and the Budget process)

**Senior Advisor**: Step 1 - $80,571 to Step 6 - $108,914 and max of $124,651

**Advisor**: Step 1 - $80,571 to Step 6 - $94,084 and max of $107,597
About you | Mōu
We are looking for someone who is a natural relationship builder and influencer, who can confidently engage with a wide range of individuals and groups across the organisation and in other government departments and with key external stakeholders.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to manage multiple, often tight deadlines; and you need to have a knack for keeping across a number of issues at the same time.
You will know what high quality advice looks like and are skilled at translating and presenting complex issues in clear and concise language.
Additional to this, you will need an expert level of understanding of machinery of government and related processes and procedures (or a desire to become an expert).
The role requires familiarity with Te Ao Māori, in order to understand what is required of the organisation to contribute to meaningful work and outcomes for Māori, iwi and hapū.
