**Salary**: $118,052 - $158,264 + superannuation

Te tūnga | The role
As Principal Advisor - Communications you will be part of a customer-centric and collaborative team providing strategic and tactical communications and public relations advice across the organisation. We're looking for a highly skilled practitioner who can work across a broad spectrum of communications.
Reporting to the Senior Manager - External Affairs your focus will be on supporting CE communications and building Stats NZ's positive profile. You'll play a key role in identifying and managing communication and engagement risks for the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and the organisation.
This is a busy role for seasoned communications professional who is comfortable leading high-profile pieces of work as well as influencing and challenging senior leaders. This position is 2IC to the Senior Manager - External Affairs so you'll need to be comfortable mentoring and leading other communications kaimahi from time to time.

**To be successful in this role you'll**:
- be a seasoned communications professional with at least five-years' experience in a similar role, including supporting senior leaders.
- be comfortable switching between big picture, creative thinking, tactical communications operations and reactive media advisory.
- be skilled at converting strategic, complex or technical information into clear, compelling material that's fit for purpose and audience.
- be a plain language champion.
- be able to demonstrate sound relationship building skills.
- have a whatever it takes attitude and thrive in ambiguity.
- have a good understanding of economic, social and governmental influences, the political environment and other agencies and groups likely to impact on our organisation.
