We have a permanent opportunity available for Kaitātari Kaupapa Here | Policy Analyst to join our Resource Management Reform (RM Reform) - Transition and Implementation team within MfE's Policy Implementation and Delivery (PID) business group.
PID has a stewardship role in enabling environmental policy intention into positive reality. PID leads the planning and management of policy implementation, bringing together integrated partnerships iwi/Māori, partner agencies, local government, councils, industry and the scientific community to achieve collaborative, transformational delivery of environmental reforms.

Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About this role
As a Kaitātari Kaupapa Here | Policy Analyst, you will work collaboratively alongside Senior Analysts on a range of projects to support a successful rollout of the RM Reform. You will also work alongside and engage with colleagues and groups across the Ministry, including other RM reform teams. Ideally, you'll bring generalist policy and/or planning skillsets to effectively navigate a range of technical and implementation challenges associated with RM Reform.
Your problem-solving and communication skills will be important to contribute to this mahi, particularly in supporting your senior colleagues in the development of high-quality ministerial briefings, undertaking research activities and contributing to advice that will support overall strategic-decision making. You will also have opportunities to engage with external partners, including with iwi/Māori and local government.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Experience as an Analyst/Advisor with skills (and ideally experience) in policy implementation;
- Good organisation skills - you have the ability to support high-pressure workstreams and experience of working to set deadlines;
- Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship skills;
- Commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori, with willingness to engage across diverse groups, particularly with Māori and local government.

Most importantly you will be passionate about looking for realistic and effective ways of achieving environmental outcomes that can engage all partners. Resource Management experience and/or an understanding of the machinery of government and legislative reform would be an advantage.

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary Range
Salary range for this role is from $73,280 up to $89,565 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
