Auckland City, New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Full time

Work from your local Health NZ office - stay connected to your community while delivering nationwide digital health change
- Auckland based, Willing to travel to multiple locations within the Northern Region - Pukekohe to Kaitaia
- Permanent, full time role.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

**About the Role**

As a Network Engineer, you will play a vital role in keeping Health NZ's digital networks secure, stable, and performing at their best. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining network services that support hospitals, clinical teams, and digital systems across Aotearoa. Working closely with senior engineers, project teams, and vendors, you will troubleshoot complex issues, implement robust solutions, and contribute to ongoing improvements in network reliability and performance. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, nationally significant infrastructure, helping to shape the future of digital connectivity in New Zealand's health system.

In addition, we are also looking for people to join our Digital Services on-call pool. This involves being part of a roster that provides after-hours support as required.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

Our Digital Operations team sits at the heart of Health NZ's digital world — powering the systems that keep hospitals and health services across the country running smoothly. We're the team behind the technology that clinicians rely on every day, ensuring critical systems stay connected, secure, and reliable. But our impact goes far beyond the hospital walls — we're building the digital foundations that strengthen healthcare for communities across Aotearoa. By driving innovation, setting national standards, and investing in smarter, more resilient infrastructure, we're shaping the future of digital health in New Zealand — and you could be part of it.

**About you**

You are a skilled and proactive ICT professional with a passion for building and maintaining secure, high-performing network environments. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working collaboratively with others, and ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently. With a strong foundation in IT operations and a keen eye for continuous improvement, you're ready to contribute to a network that supports vital healthcare services across Aotearoa.

You will bring:

- 1-3 years' experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining digital or IT services
- 5+ years providing day-to-day technical support for end-users and/or IT systems
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex issues, managing incidents, and implementing effective technical solutions
- A solid understanding of operational standards and a commitment to maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing systems
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, wireless)
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- CCNA certification or equivalentService Management or ITIL certifications (desirable)

**Working for Health New Zealand**
