**Regional Network Engineer**
To accomplish this, you bring thoughtful knowledge to clients and will convey a keen understanding of Ciena’s complete value solutions across products and services, delivery, support, quality and expertise. In addition, you will help navigate the comprehensive challenges involved in the design and implementation of complex next generation networks.
**The Contribution**:
- Support the engineering of Ciena network system solutions
- Design, install and test network topologies to support Internet and data transport channels.
- Implements upgrades of Ciena Equipment on Customer’s In-Service networks without impacting the services provided to the end user. Includes, yet is not limited to, Channel Adds, Node Insertions, Traffic Migrations, HW/SW Upgrades, Network Management installation and upgrades
- Plan, develop and execute on Customer modernization plans for evolving customer networks via custom methods of procedure.
- Ensure proposed designs and/or solutions are technically viable and meet customer requirements.
- Own the delivery of Network Engineering documentation for Customers via the Detailed Network Design service offering. Oversee partner personnel who may be delivering a portion or all of the engineering package.
- Hold customer reviews and drive dry-runs of custom methods or procedure prior to field execution
- Oversees and guides all field activity related to the execution of custom methods of procedure. Validates that the actions taken by the assigned field personnel are executed properly as per the steps detailed in the custom method of procedure.
- Ensures the Customer’s network is operating in a stable state as designed before, during and after Maintenance Window activities. Verifies that no additional alarms exist on the network subsequent to completion of procedure.
- Performs network audits or diagnostics either as a stand-alone service or as a precursor to implementation of reconfiguration activities.
- Acts as a consultant related to network design and reconfiguration methodology and implementation when requested
- Produces as-built documentation from redlines and maintains office records when that service is purchased
- Develops configuration as well as service-layer and infrastructure-layer provisioning engineering documentation for packet networking devices
- Design, develop & test bespoke templates & scripts, for Ciena customers.

- Handle stressful situations during maintenance window activities and solve complex technical issues under the stress of time constraints.
- Impeccable record of executing procedures on customers’ networks with no unplanned disruption to traffic
- Problem solving down to the design level and then translating that back to Engineering for resolution
- Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Assess complex situations timely and accurately
- Make decisions independently and execute those decisions

- Bachelor’s Degree (CS, EE), or equivalent experience required
- 5 - 8+ years telecommunications / industry experience in Sales Engineering or Product Management preferred
- Fundamental understanding of what it takes to effectively support a complex, next generation telecommunication network
