Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
As a Senior Advisor within the Regulated Products Team, you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful implementation of the Tobacco and Vaping Regulatory Authorities. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in shaping the development, oversight, and operation of new and existing legislation related to smoked tobacco and vaping products.
You'll be to providing high-quality advice on all aspects of regulatory development. This includes offering strategic insights, identifying gaps in legislation, proposing effective solutions, and assessing potential risks. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complex landscape of smoked tobacco and vaping regulation, ensuring that our policies align with the evolving needs and challenges of the industry.
Collaboration and teamwork will be paramount in your role as you work closely with the Regulated Products Team and wider stakeholders. Together, you will prepare well-informed advice and responses to requests for information, ensuring that they are comprehensive, accurate, and timely. Your evidence-based technical guidance, informed by the relevant legislation, will guide decision-making processes and contribute to the maintenance of a robust regulatory framework.
As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to support the development of junior team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their professional growth. You'll actively contribute to the enhancement and improvement of team processes and procedures, recommending updates and efficiencies to optimise our regulatory efforts.
To excel in this role, we are seeking an individual with a proven track record of leadership and a comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks. Your ability to think strategically, analyse complex information, and propose innovative solutions will be essential. Your excellent communication and mentoring skills will enable you to guide and inspire junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant technical field
- Previous experience in analysing complex information
- The ability to tailor complex regulatory advice to a range of audiences
- Experience in working within a regulatory policy environment
- Senior experience in regulated products (vaping, herbal smoking, smokeless and smoked tobacco products) providing advice to the sector
- Experience leading the development of operational guidelines
