At the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, our mission is to protect and enhance Aotearoa New Zealand's security and wellbeing. We provide Signals Intelligence and Cyber Security and resilience to organisations of national significance to successfully navigate in an unpredictable world.
GCSB seeks an enthusiastic compliance advisor to help ensure its important work is done properly and lawfully. You will be part of a small team providing advice and support to operational teams to ensure they are able to do what they need to do within proper boundaries. Your work is central to ensuring public trust and confidence in GCSB's activities to protect national security and keep New Zealand safe.
This work can be complex and challenging. To be successful, you will need to be a team player and prepare advice on compliance matters raised by real situations in GCSB's unique work. You will need a principled and practical approach to your work. You'll also need to be resilient, able to prioritise and to contribute constructively and work collaboratively, offering solutions to problems as well as identifying them.
**In this position you will**:
Provide timely compliance support and accurate advice to various internal teams and external partners.
Identify compliance training requirements and support the development and delivery of compliance training
Help make seniors aware of gaps in policy or training identified during the development of compliance advice
**To be successful you will have**:
At least three years' experience in a compliance role, or within an operational role, ideally in the NZIC
Demonstrated experience providing operational advice
Ability to skilfully provide a variety of advice to different customers
Strong relationship building skills
Experience preparing and delivering training is desirable

Before you apply
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
**You must**:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
