- ** About the Role**
The Building Compliance Advisor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant environment across all Central region Infrastructure and Investment Group(IIG) properties. This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of effective preventative maintenance programs, while ensuring all building services and essential systems meet regulatory and operational standards. The role also involves managing and monitoring service contracts, overseeing contractor performance, and coordinating with the technical services team to uphold building compliance and functionality. This is a key position that contributes directly to the safety and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors across the organisation's facilities.
**About the Team/Service/ Location**
The Central IIG team are focused on delivering high-impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system. Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, that ensure safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are available for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders. The Facilities team (within the IIG) is a dedicated group of professionals committed to ensuring the safety, functionality, and compliance of our healthcare properties across the region. Working collaboratively across multiple sites, the team manages a wide range of essential services including maintenance, technical systems, and contractor oversight supporting the day-to-day operations of our clinical and non-clinical environments. With a strong focus on continuous improvement and proactive service delivery, the team plays a vital role in enabling high-quality care for patients and a safe working environment for all staff.
**About you**
You are a key contributor to the safety and compliance of Central region IIG properties, supporting the development of effective preventative maintenance regimes and managing service contracts, contractors, and technical teams that maintain essential building systems and services. You are someone who actively contributes to a positive team culture and seeks to embody the values of Health NZ in everything you do. You understand that how you work is just as important as what you deliver, and you take pride in fostering an environment that is collaborative, inclusive, and aligned with shared purpose.To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Relevant diploma or degree in building, engineering, or an advanced trade qualification in a compliance-related field.
- 5-7 years' experience in building services maintenance and preventative maintenance systems.
- Strong knowledge of compliance legislation, including the Building Act, Fire Safety Act, HAZNO, and electrical codes.
- Proven experience in contract management, including scope development, negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Proficient in using Asset Management Information System (AMIS) and other platforms for accurate compliance data recording and reporting.
