Wellington
Secondment (up to six months)
Are you ready to influence employment relations at the heart of government? We're looking for a senior or principal advisor to join our Workforce and Employment Relations team. This is a secondment opportunity, perfect for someone who is looking to gain central agency experience and can hit the ground running.
This is an opportunity to build system capability and help influence employment relations practice across the entire Public Service. You'll be advising on complex issues and helping deliver on the Government's expectations for employment relations.
Our team has a system leadership role, therefore the ability to take a broad view and think at a system level about employment relations issues is key.
Whether you're an experienced ER professional or HR generalist with understanding of good employment relations practice, if you're ready to contribute and gain experience in a central agency, we want to hear from you.
**The Role**
- Day to day, you will:_
- Hold a portfolio of Public Service agencies that you will act as the relationship lead for, working as the point of contact within the Commission for employment relations advice.
- Ensure agency collective bargaining approaches are aligned with Government expectations.
- Advise the Manager Workforce and Employment Relations on the approval of agency collective bargaining strategies, terms of settlement, and collective agreements.
- When required, provide written updates to Ministers on collective bargaining progress.
- Contribute employment relations expertise to cross-Commission/group initiatives.
- Help build employment relations capability across the team and wider system.
**What you'll bring**
- Understanding of effective employment relations and experience in the government environment.
- The ability to navigate complex issues and deliver practical, technically sound advice.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to influence and persuade across a wide range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for improving employment relations across the public sector.

**How to apply**:
In your cover letter we'd like to know about you, what interests you about the role and why you think you'd be successful.
