Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to lead a small team which will provide expert ER advice, guidance and support across the organisation. Our Employment Relations team works with four unions across five collective agreements and has various workforces within coverage. You will have the opportunity to create and develop these relationships further and provide expert advice to our Senior Leadership Team.

**You will bring your skills and experience to support MPI by**:

- Developing an ER strategy for MPI
- Providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members involved in ER work
- Representing MPI in external HR forums where required (e.g. PSC cross-agency meetings).
- Representing MPI in union negotiations, mediations and disputes

You are an Employment Relations expert with impactful communication skills and a strong negotiator. You'll be able to comfortably engage with all levels of stakeholders and demonstrate a consultative and collaborative working style. You will understand the connection between organisational culture and strategic industrial relations.
You enjoy problem solving, creative thinking, innovative solution finding skills and the ability to coach others. You're eager to get stuck in with bargaining and engaging across our four unions and excel in challenges. You have either been in a similar role leading an ER function or a Principal ER Specialist looking to move into a leadership role.

**You will stand out if you have**:

- Extensive experience within the ER/IR environment
- Knowledge or experience of the government employment relations landscape and approach
- Experience working with collective employment agreements and with unions
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management expertise
