Join us, and deliver Great Law for New Zealand
- Work with senior leaders in the space between strategy, policy, management and delivery
- Use and develop planning and project skills that will take you to the next level
- Work in the heart of central government close to the Botanic Gardens and Lambton Quay
- 12-month fixed term or secondment opportunity
Salary range $101,561 - $124,131
We are looking for a motivated and experienced team player to join our System and Stewardship Group. In this 12-month fixed term or secondment you will develop and implement business practices and processes to deliver on strategic work programmes led and supported by the group.
What we do
The Parliamentary Counsel Office is New Zealand's law drafting and publication office, and the Government's legislative adviser. Its statutory objective is to promote high-quality legislation that is easy to find, use, and understand and, to that end, to exercise stewardship of New Zealand's legislation as a whole.
If you value people, thrive on collaboration and seek to achieve meaningful outcomes, then PCO is the place for you The work we do is challenging, diverse, and integral to the lives of New Zealanders. There's no place like it.
The team
The System and Stewardship Group is responsible for setting PCO's strategy in respect of Legislative Stewardship and Te Ao Māori. The group develops, leads, manages and implements the associated work programmes directly and through others inside and outside PCO. We work across team, group and organisational boundaries to achieve our objectives.
The group also leads PCO's strategy and policy function for legislation, supports the development and implementation of high-quality vocational education for our staff and our instructors, develops our external partnerships, and is responsible for external communications. It is the secretariat for the Legislative Design and Advisory Committee and provides PCO's corporate legal function.
The role
You will report directly to the Deputy Chief Parliamentary Counsel, and work with the two managers in the group and senior managers and staff across the organisation to optimise the work of the group and delivery of its objectives.
You will drive the establishment and operation of governance for our strategic work programmes, and support delivery of cross-group, organisation and system work.
You will use your skills in analysis and advice to contribute to project work, such as by holding the pen on analysis and consultation papers, supporting internal and external consultation, and supporting project leaders to overcome barriers and manage risks.
**This role is based in our Wellington office and is hands-on**: you will be able to see the difference that your mahi delivers for the business.
Our culture
Our whakatauākī is a guiding principle that helps to ensure our actions and decisions align with our values.
Mā te whakamana tāngata, me te mahi ngātahi, ka whai putanga tātou
Through valuing people and collaborating, we can achieve great outcomes
Located across the road from Parliament, PCO offers you a fascinating insight into Aotearoa's legislation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional and highly respected organisation.
