Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
This role is fixed term from 25th November 2024 to 1st December 2025, with the possibility of becoming permanent. The ideal applicant will be based in either Auckland, Manawatu, Wellington or Gisborne, although location can be flexible for the right person. Reporting to the Toki Ngao Tū | Manager Review and Improvement Services. Your focus is to evaluate the quality of education provided by schools and from these evaluations, prepare reports that are made available to the public.
Mōhou ake | About you
Are you a successful senior education leader looking for your next challenge? Do you have the skills, experience, and ambition to work with a wide range of schools and communities to improve the quality of education? Do you have the skills and experience to evaluate the quality of teaching and learning in Māori immersion settings in English medium schools. Do you have effective communication skills in te reo Māori and English - both written and oral?
We want to hear about any of the following in your cover letter and CV:
- Your extensive knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Āotearoa.
- Your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the education sector and ERO.
- Your knowledge of effective pedagogical practices, including in Māori immersion settings.
- Your experience working in Māori immersion settings in English medium schools.
- Examples of key relationships you've built and how and why relationships are important.
- Where you've demonstrated leadership, e.g., led by example, demonstrated problem solving, owned a project or piece of work, spoken up for yourself or others.
- Where you've shown curiosity and tried new things, taken on other perspectives, challenged the norm, learned, and applied or shared your learnings.
- Where you've collaborated with others and invited feedback.
- Experience in an education leadership role that included using evaluation to guide improvement.
