Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are looking for someone to join our Iwi and Community whānau as a Māori Cultural Advisor reporting to the National Engagement Manager (Māori). This role is responsible for supporting the Senior Māori Partnerships Advisors and Māori Responsive Managers in assisting our kaimahi to develop their knowledge and skills in te reo Māori, Tīkanga, Mātauranga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring that te Ao Māori is seen, heard, felt and spoken - Ko Te Ao Māori ka kitea, ka rangona, ka kōrerohia.
By developing NZ Police kaimahi confidence and capability in te ao Māori, we are better enabled to partner and engage with tangata whenua with the utmost cultural integrity.
This role provides expert advice on te ao Māori capability at organisational, team and individual levels. It involves participation in the planning, collaboration, design, delivery and evaluation of various organisational development initiatives, as outlined in our Strategy, ‘Te Huringa o Te Tai”.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Supporting the delivery and implementation of Te Huringa o te Tai strategy and ‘Our Business’.
- Team player: Contributes to the wider team by being proactive, taking initiative and managing time and competing deadlines appropriately.
- Coordinating and facilitating communication and meetings between NZ Police and community leaders, to achieve community input into Iwi & Community and Police strategies and initiatives
- Maintaining effective working relationships with Responsiveness Managers and Liaison Officers within Districts to foster a commitment to delivering on Iwi & community strategies and initiatives
