At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally, and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead interesting and varied analytical work and develop new approaches and develop your skills in a supportive team environment.
As the Lead Analyst you will develop evidence-based approaches and reports to support the delivery of the National Education Growth Plan. The role will support the structure and design of all levels of the education network, including mainstream, Māori medium, learning support and early childhood learning.
You will also lead the identification of improvements to tools, processes and the presentation of information to support the provision of high-quality information that underpins network planning and decision making.

Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for someone with proven experience in complex statistical data analysis and data models, analytical methodologies and techniques. You will be able to interpret and translate data into meaningful information for scenario planning and modelling of the education network.
You will be able prepare maps, data and reports and presentations to support and influence growth planning investment and decision making. You will have significant applied knowledge and experience in Excel and GIS and be able to present information in a clear way to a variety of stakeholders. You will be collaboratively developing relationships at senior levels.

**You will also offer**:

- Ability to influence others through evidence-based approaches
- Demonstrated leadership and understanding of process and systems improvement methodologies
- An understanding of the timing and sequencing of growth and development, impact of housing typologies and yields on demand response planning
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
- Proven project management skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of council plans and developments
- Experience of working in a government agency
- Ability to interpret legislation and understand policy intent and identify implications for implementation
- Knowledge and experience of the operation of the school sector

We work closely with our Ministry, sector, and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education outcomes for all children and young people.
The Education Network team is responsible for ensuring the school network is in the best shape and equipped to offer the best quality of education for every New Zealander. Our national and regional staff keep an eye on where the network needs to move and adapt to meet the growing needs of ākonga/learners and their whanau.
