**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Te Whatu Ora Improve business unit takes a whole-system, consumer and whānau-centred and equity led approach to accelerate improvement and innovation, underpinned by best evidence, data and evaluation.
The primary purpose of the Group Manager Care Pathways and Value Based Care role is to lead the design and implementation of a strategic portfolio focused on value based healthcare, optimising the use and impact of care pathways and evidence based practice to achieve better health outcomes, value and sustainability.
As part of this purpose you will provide strategic leadership in the design and development of a national HealthPathways programme and a broader programme of work that drives and promotes evidence based practice, reduction in waste and unwarranted variation, and improved effectiveness and use of resources.
You will work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora Improve senior leaders, and national, regional and local leaders to develop and execute improvement and innovation initiatives that accelerate the adoption of evidence based practice and integrated care pathways and deliver value based healthcare with excellent health outcomes and experience.
**Mōu | About you**
You will have experience in successfully leading the development and implementation of national strategies, strategic portfolios and programmes in improvement and innovation and transformational change initiatives across a large organisation. You will have an excellent understanding of value based healthcare, the importance of evidence based practice and sustainability and skills and expertise necessary to implement integrated care pathways and value based healthcare programmes across a large organization.
Demonstrated experience at a leadership level developing teams, building and maintaining strong relationships with clinicians and managers, and developing strong partnerships across sectors and organisations is essential.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Knowledge of New Zealand health legislation and sector
- A graduate and/or postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to health leadership, or comparable experience working at a senior management level
- Significant experience and expertise in developing and implementing highly effective strategies and strategic portfolios of work that delivery on organizational objectives
- A deep understanding of value based healthcare, the importance of evidence based practice and sustainability, and the skills and expertise required to implement integrated care pathways and effective value-based healthcare programmes across a large organization
- An ability to work within and across matrixed and interconnected teams to deliver work and achieve group objectives and outcomes
- Experience working at a senior leadership level within a clinical improvement and innovation or similar environment facilitating the delivery of equity and high quality healthcare services
- Experience and skills in leading highly skilled, high performing and engagement management and professional teams in a multi-faceted environment
- A graduate and/or postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to health leadership improvement and innovation, or comparable experience working at a management level.
