**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Senior Librarian Children & Youth to join the Waitematā Local Board. This role is primarily based at Parnell Library, however some flexibility is required as you may need to work from the other local libraries in the local board (Grey Lynn Library and Leys Institute Library).

This is a permanent position working **40 hours per week** on a Monday to Friday schedule, with some flexibility required around working the occasional Saturday.

This role is vital for connecting children, youth, and whānau with library services and programmes, and fostering relationships between our team and the community. This role is responsible for developing and delivering innovative, responsive, and engaging programmes and events for tamariki and rangatahi that suit our diverse community and their needs, highlighting accessibility, inclusion and culture. The Senior Librarian role is also a key support role for the Parnell Library team, providing leadership, opportunities for collaboration, and mentoring to other staff across the local board.

**Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities**
- Provide strong leadership with excellent communication skills
- Be the senior onsite and have the capability, capacity, confidence and resilience to lead and delegate where required
- Build and maintain relationships with young people and their whānau, schools, pre-schools, community stakeholders, and the wider council family
- Planning, designing and facilitating meaningful events and programmes for children and youth
- Championing literacy and providing strong readers advisory for children and youth and their whānau

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for someone who brings an enthusiasm for inclusion, fun and learning, and the ability to collaborate both with the library teams across the local board and with our communities. Strong communication and digital skills are a must, as well as the ability to foster literacy and engagement with some of the youngest members of our community.

For this Senior Librarian position, you will have strong leadership skills and be resilient, confident and proactive. You will feel comfortable delegating and guiding staff, and work closely with the Manager Community Place to support with the library's day-to-day operations.

You will have or be working towards LIANZA professional registration.

**Salary**: $88,528 - $104,150 pro rata depending on experience
